The TPM AC 40 lists the 40 most played songs at Adult Contemporary Radio, as reported to us by ChartWatch Data Services®. It does not distinguish between currents and recurrents. This is due to the nature of the AC format. By utilizing this methodology we are able to more accurately reflect the true strength of currents which receive minimal airplay. When removing recurrents, currents often appear to have greater strength than is actually the case. Also, realistically, this is the manner in which Adult Contemporary stations are actually programmed. ChartWatch Data Services® continuously monitors all of the major "monitors" of airplay, assimulating all data into a composite master listing utilizing exclusive electronic technology developed by CWDS founder & President Joseph K. Thomas — a former longtime broadcaster who now operates JKT IT Solutions.
